Biography

Born in 1984 in Manila, Kat Medina is a highly regarded name within the vanguard generation of ultra-contemporary Philippine art. She completed her formal artistic training in Manila before developing a research-driven, multi-media methodology that cuts seamlessly across painting, textile art, sculpture, and site-specific installations.

Medina’s early institutional breakthrough was deeply rooted in alternative, non-traditional curation. She famously staged her milestone first solo exhibition directly inside her own house, utilizing the private, familiar residence as a live laboratory to dissect the immediate cycles of domesticity, seclusion, and what it means to build a home out of pedestrian materials. Over her dedicated career, Medina’s investigations into anthropological disparities, consumerism, and the economics of the hand have earned her widespread recognition, placing her work in premier contemporary galleries and cultural institutions across Southeast Asia and Europe.
