Biography

Sacha Cotture is a Swiss architect and painter who has spent years working at the intersection of European design sensibility and tropical environmental realities. He first gained prominent recognition in the local design scene through his architectural masterpiece, the Courtyard House—a residential space defined by its use of local organic elements, fine wooden poles, and natural stone accents.

Driven by a desire to explore freer artistic expressions, Cotture studied traditional Chinese painting before completely reconstructing the medium to suit his own high-energy, contemporary philosophy. Embracing the unpredictable elements of his environment, he runs an open-air courtyard studio where the intense tropical sun behaves as a crucial catalyst, drying his heavy ink washes rapidly to keep up with his rapid, continuous workflow.

Design Alignments & Showcases:

The Milo Naval Collaboration: Cotture’s fine art practice shares a deep creative affinity with renowned Filipino furniture designer Milo Naval. The fluid, black-and-white movements of Cotture’s paintings serve as the perfect aesthetic offset to the clean, straight-backed geometry of Naval’s furniture collections.

Showroom Presentation: His large-scale, generous canvas proportions are permanently featured and curated to complement high-end minimalist spaces at the OMO Showroom at the LRI Design Plaza in Makati City.
