Biography

Born on March 20, 1947, in the town of Orion, Bataan, Glenn Bautista was a highly decorated Filipino painter, sculptor, and printmaker. Raised in a devout household as the son of a church minister, his early exposure to spiritual life deeply anchored his creative journey. He honed his craft across several elite institutions, including the University of Santo Tomas (UST), the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Fine Arts, and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in Germany.

Bautista's innovative genius gained major international traction during his student days. Over a prolific career spanning several decades, he won top-tier national and global awards before spending his final years in the United States, where he passed away in 2014.

Career Highlights & Accolades:

1965: Won First Prize in the World Literacy and Christian Literature International Art Competition in New York with his piece "The Event", beating out 64 global entries.

1968 & 1969: Earned consecutive First Prize victories at the prestigious Shell Art Competition and the Aguinaldo Centennial Art Competition.

1974: Received the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Thirteen Artists Award.

International Grants: Awarded major creative study and travel grants throughout the United States and Europe during the 1970s and 1980s.

Key Masterpieces: Renowned for landmark spiritual and abstract pieces, such as "The Event" and "New Earth", which brilliantly merge geometric shapes with a profound sense of cosmic harmony and hope.
