Born: January 1, 1915 in Cebu City


Education:

1939 Diploma in Painting, University of the Philippines

1933-1939 Constant medalist in painting as a student



Awards:

1936-1939 Medalist in painting, Composition and Life Class

1937 Granted Scholarship at the University of the Philippines

1938 received gold Medal as a University Scholar Representative in the

UP Student Council

1979 Makasining na Paglimbag - Parangal Patnubay ng Sining at

Kalinangan, Araw ng Maynila



Experience and Achievements:

Founded the Philippine Association of Printmakers

1950-1958 19 major awards in the National Art Competition

1956-1967 Member of the Art Association of the Philippines� Board of Directors

1957-1960 Connected with UNICEF

1961-1962 Member of the Board of Directors of the Audio-Visual Research in

New York City

1963 Became honorary member of the School of Professor, School of Design

in Florence



Special achievement:

Philippine Representative of Asian Artists in Crystals of Steubenglass of New York City

Pioneer in the Philippine Greeting Cards

Pioneer in printmaking in the Philippines

Pioneer in the experimentation in materials and techniques

Father of Philippine Printmakers
