Federico Aguilar Alcuaz (Filipino: Federico Alcuaz Aguilar; June 6, 1932 – February 2, 2011) was a distinguished Filipino painter whose career was marked by extensive international exhibitions and critical acclaim both in the Philippines and abroad.
In 2009, Alcuaz was conferred the title of National Artist for Visual Arts, recognizing his contributions to painting, sculpture, and mixed media. While the conferment coincided with the 2009 National Artist controversy involving other nominees—prompting a temporary status quo order from the Supreme Court—no objections were raised regarding Alcuaz’s recognition, underscoring the broad acknowledgment of his artistic legacy.
